We’re a profitable, fast-scaling startup building the fastest DNA sequencing platform in the world. Our tools are used daily by scientists, bioengineers, and researchers working on everything from vaccine design to synthetic biology to climate-resilient agriculture.

In just three years, we’ve gone from $0 to $50M in revenue without raising any VC funding. Now, we’re looking for a Head of Data Visualization to lead the charge in turning massive genomic datasets into rich, interactive, and actionable visual tools. This is a foundational role on a product-minded engineering team that is shaping the visual intelligence layer of modern biology.

What You’ll Do:

• Architect and lead the development of sophisticated data visualization tools using D3.js, WebGL, and React

• Own the entire product lifecycle — from idea to MVP to production-ready tools used by scientists worldwide

• Design and scale intuitive interfaces that allow users to explore genomes, track mutations, and interact with high-dimensional scientific data

• Drive best practices in frontend engineering, design systems, and performance optimization

• Work full-stack when needed (Python backend) to deliver seamless user experiences

• Collaborate closely with scientists, product managers, and backend engineers to shape the roadmap and ship high-impact features

• Mentor other engineers and set the technical direction for all things visualization

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience building and scaling frontend or full-stack applications in fast-moving environments

• Deep expertise in data visualization (D3.js, WebGL, Three.js, or similar), with a strong portfolio or examples of complex, interactive visual work

• Fluency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred) and frontend architecture patterns

• Strong backend fundamentals, especially in Python (Flask or FastAPI a bonus)

• Experience designing and delivering user-facing scientific or technical tools, especially for large or complex datasets

• Strong product intuition and UX sensibilities — you obsess over usability, not just functionality

• A leadership mindset — whether you're mentoring engineers, defining technical direction, or shaping the product experience
