Nightjar is a digital product company based in Sydney, specialising in UX strategy, design, and innovative tech. We partner with brands and startups across the world, to build engaging design-led solutions which make a global impact. Our clients include Destination NSW, Guide Dogs NSW, House of Heat, Sonoma, ALNF, Armadillo, National Dental Care, Two Good and the United States Studies Centre to name a few.

What You’ll Do

We're seeking a sharp, collaborative engineer passionate about building magic. Applying meticulous polish and creative flair to high-performance, interactive experiences. The next Nightjar will be restless about the details and love pushing digital boundaries to deliver exceptional results for our partners.

Skills

1. Nightjar is a Sanity, Next.JS Studio
2. Knowledge of the building blocks of the web; HTTP, headers, cookies, caching, etc.
3. Expert with Git
4. Extremely detailed in technical approach taking into account design principles and applying the utmost polish to a project
5. Knowledge in animation libraries and techniques - you’ll love a good micro-interaction
6. A knack for benchmarking and front end optimisation
7. Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL
8. Disciplined with your time and a solid communicator, ensuring the rest of the team are kept abreast of project statuses and any outstanding deliverables

Required Experience

1. 3+ years experience building award-winning interactive experiences for the web in an agency/studio environment
2. Solid understanding of JavaScript/DOM
3. Strong experience with modern JS Frameworks/Libraries such as React, Gatsby, Next
4. Experience with WebGL a bonus
5. Experience in building fault-tolerant, high performance client-side architecture
6. Experience using popular headless CMS solutions
7. Experience with eCommerce platforms
8. Unit, e2e and performance testing software under load to ensure reliability and scalability for our larger projects
