Founding Design Engineer

The role

We're hiring a Design Engineer to advance our mission of building real-time multimodal intelligence. In this role, you'll:

1. Further our core products, and create new offerings through design leadership.

2. Lead the design process by gathering requirements, planning, and brainstorming at the start of each project.

3. Design and implement intuitive interfaces that make frontier AI capabilities accessible.

4. Optimize for performance, accessibility, and usability, ensuring a top-tier user experience.

5. Contribute to and refine our design systems.

6. Mentor and advocate for other designers and engineers, grow the team and elevate craft within Cartesia.

You'll have significant autonomy to shape our products and directly impact how cutting-edge AI is applied across various devices and applications.

What we're looking for

1. Technical leadership with the ability to execute and deliver zero-to-one results amidst ambiguity.

2. An eye for new product experiences and opportunities, envisioning how to make novel AI experiences a reality.

3. A strong intuition for visual design (layout, typography, color, motion).

4. Deep attention to detail and an emphasis on craft—as expressed through polish, accessibility, and performance.

5. Strong frontend engineering skills enable you to rapidly prototype and iterate on ideas from end to end.

6. Good at working with customers and translating their feedback into great product experiences.
