The Role

We’re seeking a Front-End development specialising in Creative Development - developing interactive elements such as animations, transitions, hover effects, and microinteractions which enhance user engagement and create memorable user experiences.

The role focuses on the Front-of-the-Front-End, working closely with our design team to help conceptualise and develop award winning, user-centric and awe-inspiring interfaces. Your work will cover a range of Tech Stacks and technologies, however you will not need to get bogged down in the minutia of componentry and CMS implementations, you just get to focus on the fun stuff!

Another important aspect of the role is branching out into the responsibilities of a Senior Developer / Tech Lead. If you’re looking to bolster your capabilities and CV, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to work alongside our Technical Director and assist as an interface between the Development Team and our internal staff, as well as assist in scoping and investigating work, and occasional troubleshooting & bugfixes.

Required Experience

Extensive experience working with CSS and JavaScript based animations and interactions. Implementing technologies such as Three.js, GSAP, WebGL, scroll-based animation libraries, and hand-coding JS interactions and animations.
Extensive experience with JavaScript Frontend technologies such as React/Next, Vue/Nuxt, Svelte/SvelteKit, or Astro. Experience in a single stack is not essential as long as you can demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge.
Extensive, current CSS knowledge. Applicants who can demonstrate high-level knowledge of hand-coded CSS will have a clear edge as many of the interactions and experiences we design require either a custom-coded approach to CSS or at the very least heavy custom work within a framework such as Tailwind.
Extensive experience with a range of development tools and workflows including technologies such as Gulp, Vite, Scss, Tailwind, GitFlow, CI/CD, Storybook, TDD
Extensive experience building fully-custom website Front-Ends. Applicants who cannot demonstrate a ground-up approach to Front-End development (as opposed to using site builders, templates, etc), will not be considered for the role.

Beneficial Experience

Senior Developer or Tech Lead level experience (overseeing or assisting junior developers) will be highly regarded however is not essential. A highly skilled mid-weight developer will still present a good fit for the role and we’ll be happy to support your growth into the senior aspects of the role.
Experience implementing Headless CMS technology.
Full-Stack development experience will be beneficial to assist in troubleshooting and triaging issues for the wider development team.
Agency work experience (either in-house or freelance) or within a similar fast-paced environment will be highly regarded.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the position and industry, there may be a requirement to work outside normal business hours and occasional interstate travel.
